Elemental Herbology for mothers to be

Tue, 2 February 2010

Good skincare routines can generally be relied upon to keep the wolf-skin from our pores. Mostly. Then pregnancy comes along and hormones (combined with cake), more hormones and some strange kind of injustice conspire to turn our once rosy glow to gaa...argh!. So it's good to find a new, high-tech natural skincare range that can be used for such unreasonably trying times. We asked newly pregnant mum-of-two-under-three Lorraine, to be our guinea pig and this is what she found.

When you get to the point of wanting to drink fabric softener, and wishing there was a perfume that smelt just like cif so you could smell the aroma all day long, its time to get a focus on matters.

The first one I couldn't ignore was my dry, flaky, red blotchy skin that not even my excellent concealer could hide any more. I am not sure why this pregnancy has brought about this terrible skin, or maybe it's the time of year in addition, but I had noticed nobody had mentioned the fact that I was 'glowing' this time until...and I truly hope my pregnancy brain has enough cells for me to express in writing how absolutely wonderful these two products were.

Its not the hormones talking either, as I will prove later on!

Biodynamic Facial Souffle

The amazingly gorgeous Biodynamic Facial Souffle (don't let the name put you off) smelt like something that could only do your skin a wealth of good. The texture, I knew instantly, would get to work on my dry, flaky skin so as I lathered myself up on the first night (they only suggest a thin layer, but then they hadn't seen my skin) I was suitably excited to what I would find the following morning. This product is used after you have cleansed your face and as they suggest, to be applied at night and left on overnight. That night I think I woke twice just from the sheer excitement of what I'd look like the next morning (remember I am pregnant).

I can honest say with hand on heart, no hormones involved, that not only did this product do what it claimed to do: to resolve dry and dehydrated skin (and I have spent, well lets just say, a small fortune over the years trying to find such a product), it did so much more. It reduced fine lines, it smoothed the overall appearance of my skin, reduced the red and blotchy patches and gave a child like plumpness that quite honestly I would have paid double the price of this particular product to achieve. And back to my above point that I promised to prove, my husband knew nothing of my facial product trial and noticed immediately the next morning. And that ladies, is worth more than a hundred reviews. I used the product for a couple of nights and now only need to use it as and when my skin needs a boost. An absolute must!

Wind and Cold Therapy

The second product was almost as amazing. This is used on hands, cuticles and lips. For parched hands (that was me) it was to be applied just before bed to allow the intensive reparative properties to be absorbed overnight. Again, the results were pretty amazing. My lips actually looked smooth and plump instead of dry and taut and my hands finally looked like the person from the Fairy Liquid ad..........you know that one........hands that do dishes. Its an expensive hand-cream but in my opinion its doing a lot more than that and if you consider the price (and the dreadful results) of having any kind of cosmetic work in the lip area...........you are looking at a absolute bargain.

Just to reassure you I now use the whole range of Elemental Herbology and absolutely love it!
